Dear Parents and Guardians,
Over the weekend, a Salida student was struck by a car while riding their bike. We are grateful to share that a full recovery is expected. This incident is an important reminder for all of us—drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians—to remain alert and cautious.
We encourage families to take a few moments to review safety practices with their children when walking, biking, or using scooters in the neighborhood. Key reminders include:
- Always wearing protective gear, such as helmets and reflective clothing.
- Staying alert and aware of surroundings at all times.
- Following traffic laws, including stopping at stop signs and riding in the same direction as traffic.
- Being mindful that drivers may not always see them right away.
By working together as a community, we can help ensure that our students stay safe while enjoying outdoor activities. Thank you for your continued partnership in keeping our neighborhoods safe for everyone.
Sincerely,
Dr. Dante Alvarez
Superintendent
